The Challenge
  • Heighten awareness of Oracle Application Server and Developer Tools such as, JDeveloper 10G, BPEL Process Manager and Application Server - Java Edition, amongst the worldwide developer community.
The Solution
  • Launch the Oracle Space Sweepstakes which offered software developers in 18 countries the chance to win the grand prize of a suborbital space flight -- a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel 62 miles above the surface of the earth and look down at the curvature of the Earth.
  • Promotion was announced via a wide array of integrated media tactics - banners, newsletters, Emails, PR.
  • To earn entries, developers were prompted to download and trial the Application Server and Developer Tools and provide feedback.
  • To facilitate participation in participating regions, multi-lingual versions of the promotional micro-site were created.
The Results
  • Approximately 17,000 developers from various regions participated in the Sweepstakes; this substantially exceeded client expectations.
  • 55% of participants (developers) opted-in for additional information from Oracle.
