Easter Promotion Ideas: Beyond the Jelly Bean Count

Katie Blaney, former Marden-Kane Account Supervisor, contributed this blog post about ideas for spring-time promotions.

With the start of spring, many families begin dreaming about warmer weather, school break, blooming flowers and Easter traditions. A spring-time or Easter themed promotion is a great opportunity to engage with your consumers while they plan for these joyful events.

So what comes to mind when you hear Easter? Jelly beans, dying and hunting for eggs, pastel colored dresses, and tulips are top of mind for me. But how do you transition these themes into a Sweepstakes or Contest? Here are some ideas…

Chocolate Bunny Says What?#EarsOrFeet? — Which Way Do You Eat Your Chocolate Bunny. Have fans post pictures of their chocolate bunnies on Twitter or Instagram showing how they took their first bite. A fun photo gallery with a random winner chosen at the end of the promotion will get consumers coming back to your page to check out other entries.

Create Your Dream Easter Basket — If you have an e-commerce website ask your fans to post descriptions or links to the items they would most love to find in their baskets on Easter morning.

Easter Dinner Recipe Contest — Some traditional menu items for Easter include roast lamb, ham, hot cross buns, and hard boiled eggs. Create a recipe contest for consumers to share their best family recipes into your social community cook book. For these culinary savvy fans, new kitchen appliances would be a coveted grand prize.

Egg Hunt Fail#EggHuntFail Photo Contest — Did the Easter Bunny hide their eggs in an unusual spot this year? Fans can submit photos for public voting to see who has the silliest egg hunt photo.

Spring Into Season — For a springtime themed promotion, take it outdoors and have fans submit photos of their garden transformation or an essay on what their ideal backyard oasis would look like. Prizes such as patio sets, grills, and backyard toys will get everyone excited for the warm weather.

Of course, when you run a promotion you need to have official rules to make it legal and follow the promotion guidelines for the social platforms. If any of these ideas interests you, contact us and we can make it happen!
