Are Rules Drafted with the Help of AI Safe?

The question is… is it OK to rely on AI to draft rules, are they “safe” to use, are they “accurate,” are they “legally compliant?”

I think we can agree that AI is fast and efficient. It is exciting to see your rules complete in just a few seconds – a huge windfall that you can produce a set of rules in a matter of minutes and the cost benefit will certainly please your CFO!

But consider this… AI quickly gathers data/info from previously posted rules, but are those previously posted rules accurate? Do the rules include the specifics of your promotion? You can be very thorough in providing the details/specifics of a promotion but AI does not understand the context of a situation, it is designed to match patterns in data. Do they reflect the current legal requirements both locally and internationally? Do they accurately apply local, provincial, state, and federal requirements? Legal requirements are rapidly changing and application/interpretation is often required.

AI may not rely on the latest legal developments.

Plan on dedicating ample time (there goes your time savings) to determine if what you shared with AI has been accurately reflected in the results it provided and validate if the “data” it identified is legally compliant (and if you need a lawyer to review the rules, there goes the dollars saved!). 

Yes, AI can produce a set of rules, but who is going to protect you if your rules have an error, who is going to indemnify you… responsibility lies with the human, not the app!
