Screen Test

It’s 2007 and the promotion concept involved watching a network TV broadcast at the same time a trivia quiz about the broadcast was being conducted online. This early incarnation of the “Second Screen” tactic tested viewer’s ability to sit back and watch TV while simultaneously paying attention to a Second Screen for a chance to win prizes. The Second Screen concept has matured somewhat into applications like Viggle and Get Glue but the tactic is still not a proven promotion hit. The Second Screen landscape is shifting again with some cable TV companies streaming live content to tablets and phones. Suddenly my Second Screen tablet is my primary screen. Next, will my Smartphone become the Third Screen to my Second Screen tablet? The Screen Test continues…
